Yu Yutopia -3

YU launched YUTOPIA (YU5050), the company’s flagship smartphone yesterday, priced at Rs. 24,999. We brought you the unboxing earlier today, here we take a quick look at the hardware of the smartphone in the form of photo gallery.

Yu Yutopia -11

It has a 5.2-inch (1440 x 2560 pixels) Quad HD OGS display with Corning Concore Glass protection, 1000:1 Contrast Ratio, 91% NTSC color gamut. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core (4 x 2.0GHz + 4 x 1.5GHz) 64-bit processor with 630MHz Adreno 430 GPU and packs 4GB of DDR4 RAM.

It has a 8-megapixel camera on the front with Omnivision OV8865 BSI-2 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1.4um pixel and 86-degree field of view. It has the usual set of proximity and ambient light sensors on the right side of the ear piece. It also has 6-axis Gyroscope, Electronic compass, Barometer (Detects air pressure and checks altitude) and Hall Sensor (For detection of flip covers and other accessories).

It runs on Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), which is upgradable to Cyanogen OS 13 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) in the future. It has 32GB of internal storage, out of which 22GB is free.

The volume rockers are present on the right side of the smartphone with the power button present between them. The smartphone has a aircraft grade aluminium body, measures 147 x 73 x 7.2~9.07mm (Camera bump) and weighs 159 grams.

Yu Yutopia -8

It has hybrid SIM slot on the left side that lets you use the second slot to be used as an expansion slot when required. It has 4G LTE connectivity, dual-band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB OTG support. The 3.5mm audio jack is present on the top and the micro USB slot is present on the bottom.

Yu Yutopia -7

There is a 21-megapixel camera on the back with dual-tone LED flash, Sony Exmor RS IMX230 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) that promises quick focus in under 0.2 seconds. There is also a fingerprint sensor below the camera that intelligent programmable wake-up feature and also lets you just tap to click a picture or to take a selfie.

Yu Yutopia -6

The smartphone packs a 3000mAh built-in battery with Quick Charge 2.0 and comes bundled with a fast charger that can charge the phone from 0 to 60% in just 30 minutes. There is a YU branding on the bottom part of the back and the loudspeaker grill is present below that. It has Smart PA TFA9887, DTS and Tri-Mic technology for Stereo Recording and Active Noise Cancellation. It also comes bundled with House of Marley Little Bird In-Ear Headphones in the box that has 9.2mm driver. We will bring you the complete review of the smartphone soon.
