Earlier this week Airtel offered advanced instant talk time, data and on-net calling minutes for its pre-paid customers and Paytm offered Rs.30 worth free talk time for people in flood-stricken Chennai. Now Skype has come forward to offer international calls to landlines and mobiles into Tamil Nadu free of charge for the next few days.
This will be useful for people outside India to enquire about their relatives in Tamil Nadu. “This excludes calls to special, premium service and non-geographical numbers,” said Skype.
Regarding the new initiative, Skype, on their official blog, said:
Since we don’t know the full extent of the devastation, we want to help provide people with alternative methods of communication to reach friends and family in the region during this difficult time.
