Myntra is going back to the start. The Flipkart owned fashion portal that went app only in May this year has relaunched its mobile website.
The latest move comes from Myntra after Flipkart rolled out Flipkart Lite mobile website last month. At present, the mobile website is live for some sections like shoes, women clothing, watches, sarees, bags and so on. However, you can only view the product on the mobile website but in order to buy it, you will have to visit the app. It is said that Myntra will soon add more categories to its mobile site.
Myntra had decided to go app only as it draws 80% of its traffic and 70% of sale from mobile app. Also, Flipkart had decided to kill its desktop site and go app only but in August it put the decision on hold and launched the Flipkart Lite mobile website which lets you buy items without visiting the app. The mobile website from Myntra looks like it is in nascent stage and it still carries banners to view and buy the item in the mobile app. A large number of customers were against Myntra’s plan of going app only as the process of selecting and buying products, especially clothes, on a 5 inch or higher mobile screen is tough and not seamless. It remains to be seen if Myntra will go back to the desktop website or sticks to the app only approach.
