If you probably thought that smartphones don’t have large enough batteries then MACOOX is a brand that agrees with you. They have announced the EX1 smartphone which has a battery capacity that is probably bigger than the capacity of most portable battery packs that people carry.

But then again, this smartphone is probably thicker than or as thick as most battery packs that are available these days. So that extra capacity does come at a price. The device specifications isn’t that great either as it has a 4.5″ display with a quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB of space on board and the phone supports 4G LTE as well. In terms of design, the phone looks like it has more in common to a PMP (portable Media Player) than a smartphone.

There is an 8 Megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a front facing 2 Megapixel camera as well. There is no news regarding the availability, pricing or how long exactly the battery would take to charge. The device would surely last for a long time with that capacity and with a small screen to go along with it.

All in all, the specifications are quite underwhelming to be honest except for the battery capacity and it is upto you to decide whether having a low end phone with a huge battery is better than just carrying a battery pack since the odds are that most of you wouldn’t want to use this as a main phone.
