Periscope clocks 10 million registered users

Periscope has announced that it currently has 10 million registered users. The live streaming app from Twitter said that users are watching 40 years worth of content on its platform on a daily basis.

Periscope-Growth

Periscope which is speedily gaining popularity claims that it has reached the 10 million registered user milestone in mere four months of its launch in March. The company announced that it has 2 million daily active users on Android and iOS apps. It must be noted that 10 million is only the number of people that have a Periscope account and not the number of people which use it every month.

“Success for broadcasters means more time watched on their broadcasts. Success for the audience (viewers who are watching and participating in a Periscope) means more high quality broadcasts in their feeds that they want to watch and participate in.

posted Periscope CEO Kayvon Beykpour in a blog.

Periscope has been constantly updating its mobile apps on Android and iOS since its launch. The rise of Periscope users is alarming and suggests that live streaming apps have become an important part of the online ecosystem. Moreover, Periscope is giving a tough competition to Meerkat which is fading in terms of popularity.
