Apple has announced for a global recall for its Beats Pill XL speakers sighting fire safety risk due to overheating of battery in the speaker in rare cases. This does not affects Beats Pill 2.0 or any other Beats or Apple products, says the company. It was introduced by Beats by Dre in November 2013. Apple acquired Beats for $3 billion in 2014. The Bluetooth speaker was sold through Apple Retail Stores and major retail stores, Apple.com and Beatsbydre.com from January 2014 through June 2015.

Apple has sold about 222,000 units of Beats Pill XL speakers in the U.S. and about 11,000 in Canada, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. It also says that Apple has received eight reports of incidents of the speakers overheating, including one with a burn to a consumer’s finger and one with damage to a consumer’s desk.

Customers who purchased a Beats Pill XL speaker should visit Apple Support Page for the Beats Pill XL Speaker Recall Program, select the country and fill the form with serial number of the speaker and personal details. Apple will arrange the return. It will take 3 to 4 weeks for the refund amount of $325 or Rs.20,600 or the amount in your local currency to reach your account after Apple receives the speaker.
