HTC launched the Desire 820 smartphone in India last month for Rs. 24,990. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 (SM- G750H) that went on sale in India few weeks back for Rs. 20,900 is also a phablet with a larger 6-inch screen, compared to the 5.5-inch screen on the Desire 820. We already brought you the unboxing of the Desire 820 and the Galaxy Mega 2. Here we have the comparison gallery of the Desire 820 and the Galaxy Mega 2.

Both the smartphones have a HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display. The Desire 820 has a 5.5-inch display, while the Mega 2 comes with a 6-inch display. The Desire 820 has a 8MP front-facing camera with wide angle lens, while the Mega 2 comes with a 5MP camera. The Desire 820 is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor ( four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz) with Adreno 405 GPU and has 2GB of RAM, compared to the  1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5GB RAM on the Galaxy Mega 2.

The Desire 820 has on-screen buttons,  HTC branding on the bezel below the display, dual front speakers with built-in amplifiers and HTC BoomSound capabilities. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has Samsung’s signature home button along with two capacitive touch buttons on either sides. The Desire 820 runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with HTC Sense 6 UI on top. The Galaxy Mega 2 too runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with TouchWiz UI on top.

The Desire 820 has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2, BSI sensor, LED flash and supports 1080p Full HD video recording. The Galaxy Mega 2 has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and 1080p Full HD video recording.

The Desire 820 has glossy finish back with unibody construction and the Mega 2 has a leather-like back cover.  The Desire 820 comes in  Santorini White, Marble White, Milky-way Grey , Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Mist and Monarch Orange glossy back variants and Tuxedo Grey matte back variant. The Mega 2 comes in Brown Black and White colors.

Under the back cover the Desire 820 has a 2600mAh battery. The Galaxy Mega 2 has a removable back cover, under which there is a 2800mAh removable battery.

The Mega 2 has two micro SIM card slots and a microSD card slot under the back cover.

The Desire 820 has volume rockers and power/lock button on the right side, but the Mega 2 only has a power/lock button on right side.  The Desire 820 measures 157.7 x 78.7 x 7.7 mm and weighs 155 grams and the Mega 2 measures 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6 mm and weighs 196 grams.

The Desire 820 has two nano SIM slots and a microSD card slot on the left side. The Mega 2 has volume rockers on that side. The Desire 820 has 16GB of internal storage and the Mega 2 comes with 8GB of internal storage. The Desire 820 comes with 4G LTE support, including support for Band 40 for India, but the Indian variant of the Mega 2 doesn’t have LTE support.

Both these have a micro USB slot on the bottom. There is a primary microphone next to micro USB slot in the Galaxy Mega 2. The Desire 820 has the same glossy finish even on the sides, and the Mega 2 has shiny chrome finish on the sides.

These have a secondary microphone and 3.5mm audio jack on the top.
