HTC has launched the RE Camera, an action camera like the GoPro. It has a 16 megapixel sensor with a 146 degree wide-angle lens, capable of recording full HD video and 120 fps slow motion video at 720p. It has waterproof body with IP57 rating, and doesn’t require a case for protecting itself from any kind of water damage. It can also record Zoes, just like the other HTC phones. It has accessories for attaching it to things, or the ability to wear it on your body.

The app connects over WiFi direct and lets users sync images and videos to the smartphone thereby allowing instant posts to social media.. It has an LED indicator that flashes red when you take a picture, stays on while recording video, and flashes blue when slow motion video is activated.

It has a 820mAh in-built battery that lets you continuously record a little more than 1.5 hours of video and click 1,200 16MP photos.

Commenting on the launch,  Chia-Lin Chang, President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer, HTC, said,

HTC has continually set the standards in mobile technology since 1997, and once more, we are redefining the concept of imaging forever. As a company we are devoted to innovation, as we endeavor to combine the best experiences with the best hardware design as possible. Today HTC has taken a bold step to introduce a new product category, with a remarkable little camera called, RE. A product that you once pick up, you will not want to put it down. RE, will allow our users to get out from behind the lens and live and experience moments.

Tony Navin, Senior Vice President – Electronics & Home, Snapdeal.com said,

This is a unique & innovative product from HTC that would appeal to a wide range of consumers. This is a great product that can be used by every person in many unique ways. We are very confident that this would be a runaway success with our 25+ million subscriber base.

The HTC RE Camera is priced at Rs. 9,990 and will be exclusively available from Snapdeal starting November 5th. The pricing is an introductory promotional offer for a limited period.
