Mid-range Gionee GN715 with Snapdragon 400 SoC, 4G LTE announced

Gionee GN715

Gionee has taken to a gadgets expo in China to launch yet another device to extend it’s already diverse portfolio. This time round, the device — the GN715 — comes with a Snapdragon 400 SoC, like a tonne of other mid-range devices that have taken birth this year, right from the Motorola Moto G to the Xiaomi Redmi 1S.

Although the device is called GN715 for now, you can expect for it to have a more easy-to-remember name when it is made available. Speaking of availability, it isn’t clear as of now if the device will make its way out of its home country. It is priced at 1699 Yuan (US$ 275 approx.)

Specifications

  • 5-inch 1280 x 720p display
  • 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB on-board storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD
  • 8 mega-pixel rear camera
  • 5 mega-pixel front camera

It comes with a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel display that uses the IPS technology to increase the viewing angles. Like mentioned before, the Snapdragon 400 takes charge of running things on the device; it has a gig of RAM to make do with.

With those specifications, we can expect the device to go head to head with newcomers like the Huawei Honor Play 4, that sports very similar specifications.
