Telegram messaging app lands on Windows Phone

Windows Phone users recently received a shock as popular instant messaging platform  as the WhatsApp was taken down from the Windows Phone Store due to technical glitches. Now, these users can have a respite as Telegram messenger has officially arrived on Windows Phone in the form of beta. The app is already available on Android and iOS platforms.

Telegram app

The mobile messaging app created by VK.com co-founders Nikolai and Pavel Durov surpassed 35 million monthly active users mark in March this year. It enables users to send secure messaging experience, with features like auto-self destruct and encrypted chat sessions. The difference between secret chats and normal chats is that secret chats are encrypted end to end as opposed to normal chats which use client-server encryption.

Users can create group chats with up to 200 people and share videos up to 1GB, send multiple photos from the web, and forward any media you receive in an instant. Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram lets you access messages from multiple devices. Telegram first came into limelight when Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion in February this year as it clocked whopping 5 million downloads in a single day.

The app which is currently in beta can be downloaded  for free from the Windows Phone Store.
