Google Nexus 8 made by HTC reportedly coming in Q3 2014

Earlier this year there were reports about Asus making the next Nexus tablet, but a recent report from DigiTimes claims that HTC would be making the next Nexus tablet that would launch sometime in Q3 2014. Earlier reports revealed that the tablet would be powered by an Intel Atom chip, but the latest report doesn’t confirm anything.

It reveals that the next Nexus tablet would have an 8-inch screen that coincides with earlier reports that said “Google will not make any 7-inch tablets and focus only on 8-inch tablets”. Both the Nexus 7 tablets were made by Asus. HTC made the first Nexus phone and launched the HTC Flyer, the company’s first Android tablet back in 2011. It had a solid build quality, hope the next Nexus tablet would also have solid build if these rumors are true.

According to the report Google will not be overly aggressive in pushing its third-generation of the Nexus tablet since the Nexus tablets have already served its purpose in pushing Android’s penetration in the tablet market.

Google I/O 2014 is scheduled for June 25th and 26th, 2014, but Google is not expected to unveil any hardware and concentrate more on software. We can definitely expect some surprises from Google since Google I/O happens in the last week of Q2 2014.
