Google adds new “People” section in Play Store, shows you what others are downloading

Google has just added another feature to its Play Store. This time, it doesn’t have anything to do with the apps or the way your apps update. But, it brings a little social interest to your Play Store. You now get a “People” tab in the side navigation bar and when you choose it, you get a list of what other people are downloading.

This feature integrates with your Google Plus account and brings content from your circles. It shows you various apps and games that people in your circle are downloading and using. Prior to this update, you used to get “From familiar faces” section in the home page of the Google Play Store and now Google has given it a separate page.

In addition to getting apps from your circle people, you can also follow people inside the Play Store and view their profiles. The entire thing however, is focussed on apps – mainly what they download and how they have rated the apps they have used. This may improve the discoverability of apps and may help the developers.
