Apple reportedly hires sleep expert for iWatch

Apple filed for iWatch trademark in several countries last year, and the rumors about the company’s first iWatch started flowing in since then. Recent rumors revealed that the iOS 8 would have Healthbook fitness app, which can also collect data of a person’s blood pressure, hydration levels, heart rate with the help of iWatch.

Last year Apple hired health, medical and fitness experts for the iWatch team. According to a new report from 9to5mac, Apple has hired an expert on sleep research, Roy J.E.M Raymann from Philips Research for the iWatch project. He is has a solid background with experience in wearables, sensors and non-pharmacological methods of improving sleep quality.

This indicates that the iWatch could also track a person’s sleep, similar to other wearables such as FitBit. According to recent reports from the New York Times, the first-generation smartwatch would have wireless charging using electromagnetic induction seen on latest smartphone and tablets. Future iWatch model would have solar or kinetic charging.

Apple did not confirm that is working on a watch, but the recent hires indicates that it could be released later this year.
