Apple iPad 2 May Feature Proximity Sensor

on January 20, 2011 – 11:13 amNo Comment

Apple rumours never stop till the device is announced. The Apple iPad 2 is no exception. Now rumours say that the iPad 2 might have a proximity sensor.

The screenshot taken from the latest release of the iOS shows that the iPad 2 will have a proximity sensor.

The proximity sensor also helps to turn off the screen when it is placed next to your ear in order to avoid accidental presses and it will improve the battery life of the device, so we are happy to welcome the addition.

But the real reason is to facilitate the automatic locking and unlocking of the iPad 2. It seems the device will lock itself when the case is closed and automatically unlock itself again when the case is opened.
