Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 detailed, comes with Dual PDAF


Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 821, the company’s latest high-end processor in the Snapdragon 800 series last month. Qualcomm already said that the Snapdragon 821 will be 10% faster than its current flagship Snapdragon 820 SoC. Today it has detailed the clocked speed of its CPU cores GPU and more.

The Snapdragon 821 will use two performance Kryo cores clocked at 2.34GHz and the other two power Kryo cores will be clocked at 2.19 GHz. It will also use a slightly faster 653 MHz Adreno 530 GPU.

Qualcomm says that it will 5% more power efficiency compared to 820. It also has support for Snapdragon VR SDK which allows for Daydream support as well as dual phase detection. This will improve autofocus speed compared to standard phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF). It also supports up to 28MP camera, compared to 25MP camera on Snapdragon 820.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 also promises 10% faster boot speed, 10% faster app loads, smoother scrolling and improved web browsing performance.

It already confirmed that integrated 600 Mbps X12 LTE modem, Support for up to 4K Ultra HD and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 will be same as 820.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe will be the first phone to feature Snapdragon 821. Other smartphones such as HTC-made 2016 Nexus devices are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 821.
