A widget will appear by simply typing ‘check Internet speed’ in the search result. This widget will offer an option to run the speed test without opening any third party sites such as Ookla. The internet speed test which is conducted by Google’s Measurement Lab can be used by anyone by going directly to the tool.

Google’s plan about working on the internet speed test tool was first spotted by Dr. Pete Meyers, who tweeted a screenshot of the search result. The tool will run the test in less than 30 seconds and typically transfer less than 40MB of data for most users. There is no word on when the company plans to rolled out to general public.
