Snapdeal has scooped up a mobile commerce platform MartMobi for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Snapdeal’s mobility platform for merchants.

snapdeal martmobi

Founded by Pramod Nair and Satya Krishna Ganni in 2012, MartMobi creates mobile sites and apps for ecommerce stores, small and medium-sized businesses. Snapdeal said the acquisition will help improve its mobile experience for sellers and customers on its marketplace.

“We are focusing on mobile platform as about 75% of orders are coming from mobile-based devices. On the merchant side too, we are witnessing similar trends. The MartMobi team is a great addition as it will help strengthen the platform for sellers.”

said Snapdeal co-founder and COO Rohit Bansal.

The latest move from Snapdeal might be something to do with the “app only” model e-commerce sites like Myntra is adopting. Also, Flipkart is said to go “app only” by the year end. Snapdeal has recently acquired payments and mobile recharge platform FreeCharge to boost its mobile presence, bought majority Stake In RupeePower and acquired Exclusively in December 2014.
