Snapchat unveils Discover feature


Snapchat has rolled out a new feature that offers multimedia content from renowned publishers. The new section dubbed as Discover will curate articles, videos, photos from publications and networks like National Geographic, People magazine, Comedy Central, The Food Network, and ESPN.

The Discover section will comprise of a total of 11 channel that include ESPN, Comedy Central, Cosmopolitan, Daily Mail, Food Network, National Geographic, People, Yahoo News, CNN, Vice and Warner Music. Each one will feature photos, videos and other long form content. Each channel will be refreshed every 24 hours and old content will be removed. Also, each edition will include full-screen photos and videos, long-form layouts and “gorgeous advertising”, said Snapchat.

In order to access Discover, users need to swipe to the left from Stories, swipe up on a Snap to find more content, and swipe down to return to the main menu. Users can then tap on a channel and swipe left to flip through a daily edition. Daily editions include between five and 10 Stories hand-curatedby the editorial team at each company.

Snapchat, which is the popular ephemeral messaging service received $485.6 million in funding earlier this month.
