We’ve talked about the uber-thin Gionee phone that’s been in the works in the past. According to what we’re hearing, this phone will measure an insane 5mm thick (‘thin’ perhaps), to claim the title of the world’s thinnest Android smartphone.
That title is currently held by another Gionee phone, the Elife S5.5, which true to its name measures 5.5mm thick. The Elife S5.5 comes with an impressive specs set for the thin body it has, thereby dismissing claims that thin smartphones can’t have an able-enough specs set.
Gionee has been circulating this interesting-looking teaser for this new phone. Given that it received network certification a while back, we believe this teaser could hint at a launch that is around the corner. Gionee has gone on to become a popular smartphone manufacturer not only in China, but in India as well, where its budget offerings have done very well.
Gionee largely follows the offline sales channel, which isn’t taken by a lot of other Chinese makers. We wonder what the company will do with the 5mm phone they have on the roadmap!
