twitter mute feature

Some Twitter users on Android and iOS app are seeing the option to mute the accounts that a users does not want to follow. The muting of accounts can be done for a specific period of time during which you will not see any of their tweets or retweets on your timeline. However, you will still receive direct messages and notifications.

Moreover, you can even mute hashtags, and even certain words. So if someone is live tweeting a TV show and you don’t want spoilers, you can silence them without unfollowing. Popular third-party Twitter clients like Tweetdeck and Tweetbot have offered this feature for quite some time now.

No official announcement of the feature has been made by Twitter. But, we think that it will be welcomed by users.
