The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a new Direction mandating the implementation of the 1601 number series for transactional and service calls made by non-financial and non-government entities. This initiative builds on the existing 1600 series, which remains dedicated to the Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI) sector and Government bodies.
