Apple introduces M2 5nm Octa-Core SoC with 10-Core GPU, up to 24GB unified memory

Apple at its WWDC event announced M2, the company’s new ARM-based SoC for the Mac, as the successor to the M1 that was introduced in 2020. It uses second generation 5-nanometer process technology, and has 25 billion transistors, 25% more than M1. The additional transistors improve features across the entire chip, including the memory controller that delivers 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth — 50% more than M1. It offers up to 24GB of fast LPDDR5 unified memory. Continue reading “Apple introduces M2 5nm Octa-Core SoC with 10-Core GPU, up to 24GB unified memory”
