Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 Unboxing and First Impressions


Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip8 flip phone last month, and we have the unboxing and the first impressions of the phone, which has a sleeker form factor and a lightweight design with optimised software features tailored for portable, on-the-go usage.

Starting with the screen, the Z Flip8 has a 6.9-inch Full HD+ (2520 x 1080 pixels) 21.9 aspect ratio foldable LTPO 1~120Hz adaptive refresh rate screen. The sunlight legibility is good, and it offers up to 3000 nits of peak brightness.

There is a 4.1-inch (1048 x 948 pixels) Super AMOLED display cover screen that offers an expansive interactive area for notifications and widget controls.

Powered by the latest Deca-Core Exynos 2600 2nm processor with Xclipse 960 GPU. It has 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The phone runs One UI 9 with Android 17 out of the box. It will get 7 years of Android and security updates, similar to older flagship models.

There is a 10MP front camera for the inner screen.

The power button that embeds the fingerprint scanner and the volume rocker are present on the right side. The SIM slot is on the left. The USB type-C port and the microphone are on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 stands as Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Flip model, weighing 180 grams and measuring 6.1 mm when unfolded.

It is 13.1mm when folded. Built with an upgraded hinge mechanism and an Armor Aluminum frame, the Flip8 incorporates protective structural refinements for improved durability.

The camera system on the Galaxy Z Flip8 focuses on versatile capture angles and automated framing tools, powered by a 50 MP primary sensor paired with a 12 MP ultra-wide lens. The folding hinge enables hands-free shooting across multiple angles. A dedicated Camcorder Grip interface with a Zoom Rocker provides improved physical stability during mobile video capture.

Super Steady with Horizontal Lock keeps recorded video level and stabilized, suppressing motion tilt during active handheld recording.

The phone has a glass back and has a matte-finish glass that looks and feels premium. The phone packs a 4,300 mAh battery with support for 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging, unchanged from the Z Flip7.
