POVA today launched the POVA 8 Pro 5G, the company’s latest 5G smartphone in the POVA 8 series, in India. Here we have the unboxing and the first impressions of the smartphone.

The POVA 8 Pro packs a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The screen is bright since it has up to 4500 nits of peak brightness.
There is a 13MP front camera inside the tiny punch hole that supports 4K 30 fps video recording. The earpiece is present on the top edge that doubles up as a secondary speaker. There is a narrow bezel below the screen.
Under the hood, the POVA 8 Pro 5G is powered by the Dimensity 7400 Ulitmate chipset and there is also a P1 Graphic Chip. It has support for 20 5G bands and has 8GB / 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB / 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It has a 5,000mm² VC cooling compared to graphite sheet in the standard POVA 8.
The phone runs Android 16 with HiOS 16 on top, and the company has promised two major Android OS upgrades and three years of security updates for the device. There are several AI features in the phone, such as AI Noise Cancellation, AI LightMaster 2.0 and more.
Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right along with volume rockers. The dual SIM slot is present on the bottom along with the primary microphone, the USB Type-C port, and the loudspeaker grill. The infrared sensor is present on the top along with the speaker vent and the secondary microphone.
The phone has a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYTIA 700c sensor, OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. It supports 4K video recording at 30fps from the rear camera. The camera also supports a 2x lossless zoom function. Check out some camera samples.
The POVA 8 Pro 5G retains the series’ signature sci-fi-inspired design language, incorporating sharp geometric elements and a semi-transparent rear panel. The phone also comes in Arc White and Graphite Black colors.
The rear panel is equipped with the Alive Matrix Display, a functional dot-matrix screen designed to display battery levels, active timers, incoming notifications, and caller ID with spam detection. The display also functions as a desk clock when the handset is placed face down.
The phone packs a 6500 mAh battery, yet the phone is just 7.39mm thick. It has 45W fast charging support.
The POVA 8 Pro 5G starts at Rs. 49,999. It will be available from Flipkart and offline retail channels across India starting from August 21, 2026, from leading retail stores across India. With the bank offer, the effective starting price is Rs. 46,999.
