Apple unveils new intelligence-powered experiences across its services


Apple has announced a broad range of new features across its services ecosystem that will arrive with its 2027 software releases later this fall. The updates bring new intelligence-powered experiences to Apple Maps, Find My, Apple Wallet, Apple Pay, Apple Podcasts, iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV, and Fitness+, focusing on easier sharing, smarter payments, richer media experiences, and improved everyday convenience.

Apple Maps and Find My gain new discovery and sharing tools

Apple Maps is receiving an enhanced Flyover experience that combines aerial imagery with artificial intelligence to provide more detailed and realistic views of supported cities around the world.

Maps is also introducing Local Lists in the United States, helping users discover restaurants, family-friendly destinations, and other popular spots based on local trends and insights while maintaining privacy.

Apple Maps additions include:

  • Enhanced AI-powered Flyover views
  • More detailed city exploration
  • Local Lists featuring trending and locally relevant destinations
  • Privacy-focused recommendations not tied to individual users

Find My is also gaining more flexible location-sharing controls, allowing users to choose how long their location is shared with friends and family.

Find My updates include:

  • Custom location-sharing durations in minutes, hours, or days
  • Specific date and time settings for sharing to end
  • End-of-day location-sharing pause options
  • A unified Find My app on Apple Watch replacing Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People
  • Precision Finding support for paired iPhone, AirTag (2nd generation), and AirPods Pro 3

Apple Wallet, Apple Cash and Apple Pay become more intelligent

Apple is expanding Wallet capabilities with new Apple Intelligence-powered experiences designed to simplify payments and pass management.

With Apple Cash, users will be able to split bills by scanning receipts or using photos of bills. Available through Messages, Apple Wallet, and Visual Intelligence, the feature can identify purchased items, calculate individual shares, and automatically include taxes and tips.

Wallet is also making it easier to digitize physical loyalty and membership cards. Users can create digital passes from physical cards, screenshots, or directly within Wallet and access them from iPhone or Apple Watch. Apple is also enhancing hotel keys by allowing guests to view trip details, booked activities, and available hotel services directly within Wallet.

Apple Wallet and Apple Cash additions include:

  • AI-powered bill splitting with Apple Cash
  • Receipt scanning and itemized expense calculation
  • Digital loyalty and membership card storage
  • Pass creation from cards, screenshots, or Wallet
  • Enhanced hotel key experiences with trip information and services

Apple Pay is also receiving a redesigned checkout experience that makes it easier to switch payment cards and view useful information such as rewards balances, debit account balances, and pay-later options. Later this year, users will also be able to add funds to eligible debit cards directly through Apple Wallet and Apple Pay.

For in-store purchases, Tap to Pay on iPhone is gaining Tap to Share, allowing customers to securely share contact details, shipping information, loyalty rewards data, and other supported information with participating merchants. Customers will also be able to review basket items, discounts, and pricing in real time before completing payment.

Apple Podcasts, iCloud and Apple Music receive major upgrades

Apple Podcasts is expanding support for video podcasts across Mac and Apple TV. Mac users will gain Picture in Picture playback, while Apple TV users will receive a redesigned interface for discovering and watching video podcasts.

New Apple Podcasts features include:

  • Video podcast playback on Mac and Apple TV
  • Picture in Picture support on Mac
  • Transcripts, chapters, and timed links
  • New sidebar navigation on Apple TV
  • Support for episode and show artwork
  • Search within individual podcast shows

iCloud Shared Albums are also receiving a major refresh designed to improve collaboration and sharing.

New Shared Albums features include:

  • Full-resolution photo sharing
  • Support for additional file types
  • Emoji reactions
  • Enhanced activity feeds with per-album activity tracking
  • Temporary collaborative albums
  • Web-based participation for non-Apple users

Most iCloud+ plans will also offer higher daily usage limits for Apple Intelligence features, including image generation, along with Apple Intelligence support for compatible Home cameras.

Apple Music is expanding language support and improving audio experiences across devices.

Apple Music updates include:

  • Lyrics Translation support for seven new language pairings
  • Lyrics Pronunciation support for five additional language pairings
  • Improved AutoMix transitions
  • AutoMix support on Apple TV and HomePod
  • Hi-Res Lossless Audio support on Apple TV 4K

Subscribers with compatible external speaker systems will be able to enjoy studio-quality audio playback through Apple TV 4K.

Apple Sports and Fitness+ updates

Apple continues to expand sports experiences across its platforms, including coverage of Friday Night Baseball, Major League Soccer, and Formula 1 in the United States. The Apple Sports app is now available in more than 170 countries and regions worldwide, including over 90 newly added markets.

Apple Fitness+ has also introduced Strong Through Menopause, a three-week program designed to support users navigating perimenopause and menopause.

The program includes:

  • Weekly Yoga workouts
  • Weekly Strength workouts
  • Balance and mobility training
  • Strength-building exercises
  • Stress management support

A new Time to Walk episode featuring actor Busy Philipps also shares stories from her life and experiences with perimenopause.

Availability

The new features are available for testing starting today through the Apple Developer Program. A public beta will be available through the Apple Beta Software Program next month.

Apple plans to roll out the new service experiences as free software updates later this fall across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27.
