OnePlus has responded to claims suggesting it is shutting down or winding down operations, following a report that raised questions about the smartphone brand’s long-term future.
Official statement from OnePlus India
In a statement shared on X, OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu said that “recent unverified reports claiming OnePlus is shutting down are false.” He added that OnePlus India’s business operations “continue as normal” and urged stakeholders to verify information through official sources before sharing unsubstantiated claims.

Reported challenges facing OnePlus
The response follows an investigative report published by Android Headlines, which alleged that OnePlus was being gradually dismantled by its parent company OPPO. The report cited unnamed current and former employees, analyst data, and broader industry trends to argue that OnePlus was facing internal restructuring and a potential wind-down of its smartphone business.
According to the report, OnePlus has seen declining shipments in recent years, particularly in key markets such as India and China. It also claimed that OPPO’s reported $14 billion internal support effort failed to reverse OnePlus’ trajectory, and pointed to alleged cancellations of future products, including a compact flagship and a second-generation foldable phone, as signs of a strategic pullback.
However, these claims have not been officially confirmed by OnePlus or OPPO. There has been no announcement indicating a global shutdown, brand absorption, or an end to smartphone launches. OnePlus has also not publicly confirmed any product cancellations referenced in the report.
Outlook
At present, OnePlus’ on-record response applies specifically to its India operations, which the company says continue as normal. The report also emerges against a backdrop of wider industry shifts, including OPPO’s recent move to reintegrate realme and separate reports of other smartphone brands, such as ASUS, scaling back their phone strategies.
Further clarity from OnePlus or OPPO at a global level is expected to determine how the brand’s long-term strategy unfolds.
