Belkin gets Qi2.2 certification for next-gen wireless chargers

Belkin has officially received Qi2.2 certification from the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), becoming one of the first accessory brands to bring the latest wireless charging standard to market.

Belkin’s Role in Qi2.2 Development

A long-time WPC partner since 2015, Belkin played a key role in testing and validating the Qi2.2 standard. As an early adopter, the company was selected to be part of a select group of manufacturers authorized to pre-test and certify products before the standard’s full rollout.

Across its global facilities, Belkin ensures thorough quality testing. Its California HQ includes WPC-certified labs and full lifecycle testing, while engineering centers in China and Taiwan handle additional durability and real-world assessments.

Qi2.2: Charging Speeds, Features, Safety, and Support

The Qi2.2 standard, based on the Qi2 magnetic profile launched in 2023, enables wireless charging speeds up to 25W—up to five times quicker than traditional Qi chargers, said the company. Key features include:

  • Intelligent magnetic alignment: For safer, more stable charging
  • Backward compatibility: Works with Qi and Qi2 devices
  • Enhanced protection: Thermal and battery safeguards
  • Broader device support: Includes future device categories

Each Qi2.2-certified charger will come backed by Belkin’s industry-leading warranty and customer support, continuing the brand’s legacy of delivering reliable, well-designed power accessories.

Availability

Belkin will begin rolling out multiple Qi2.2-certified products in the coming months, supporting a wide range of smartphones and compatible accessories.

Speaking about the announcement, Brian Van Harlingen, Chief Technology Officer at Belkin, said:

Belkin has a long history of shaping global standards alongside trusted organizations like the Wireless Power Consortium and USB-IF. Securing first-mover Qi2.2 certification is another proud milestone in that legacy – cementing our role in defining what fast and universal wireless charging will look like for the next generation of devices.
