Pebble SmartWatch App Store heading your way early 2014

The Pebble Smartwatch has proven to be quite popular and has amassed a fair amount of developer support. Due to the lack of a consolidated place to get hold of these applications and watchfaces, users have to hunt through third party apps and websites to download them. Pebble aims to solve this problem with the launch of their app store early 2014.

The new App Store will be a part of an updated application for both iOS and Android and will have subdivisions in seven categories. These categories will include :

  1. Remotes
  2. Games
  3. Notifications
  4. Tools & Utilities
  5. Watchfaces
  6. Sports & Fitness
  7. Daily

Developers will have to ensure that the apps run on version 2.0 of the Pebble SDK as that will be the base minimum required to be allowed into the store. Users will have the option of downloading and installing third party and circumvent the app store as well. The Pebble Smartwatch pairs with Android and iOS devices to let you see notifications, emails, messages and more on your wrist. It lets you interact with said notifications as well to a certain degree. With the recently revealed SDK, third party apps will now have a lot more capabilities including local storage on the watch.
