BGMI LITE is now BGMI Air, pre-registrations reach 10 million

BGMI Air

KRAFTON India has officially renamed its forthcoming lightweight battle royale title—previously introduced as BGMI LITE—to BGMI Air. The announcement coincides with the title surpassing 10 million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store ahead of its scheduled release in India later this year.

According to the publisher, the rebranding reflects an updated strategy aimed at delivering the core Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) experience in a more streamlined format, targeted at players with entry-level devices or constrained storage capacities.

Technical Profile and Accessibility

BGMI Air has been developed to lower device requirement barriers while maintaining the primary mechanics of the standard game. Key technical and operational details confirmed include:

  • Download Footprint: The initial download size is configured at approximately 1GB, significantly smaller than the standard BGMI client.
  • Account Structure: Players will not need to initiate an account transfer. BGMI Air will function as an independent client, allowing existing BGMI users to access the new title separately without modifying or migrating their primary BGMI accounts.
  • Platform Availability: Pre-registration originally went live for Android devices via Google Play on August 25, 2026.
Open Beta and Rollout Schedule

To assess technical stability and collect user feedback prior to the general release, KRAFTON India plans to roll out an Open Beta phase in the near future. The publisher stated that findings from the beta will be used to optimize network performance and gameplay across varying hardware configurations.

Further updates regarding release milestones, system specifications, and beta access timelines will be distributed through official BGMI Air communication channels, including its dedicated Instagram page.
