Meta has announced the rollout of new AI-powered features on Facebook that allow users to express themselves more creatively across profile pictures, photos, Feed posts, and Stories. The updates introduce animations, visual restyling, and enhanced text post options to make interactions on the platform more dynamic.
New Features on Facebook
Animate Your Profile Picture
Facebook now lets users animate their profile pictures, converting still photos into short animations in seconds. Available preset animations include natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart, allowing users to match their mood or occasion. Meta plans to expand animation options throughout the year for seasonal events and special moments.
For best results, photos should feature a single person facing the camera, with a clearly visible face and no objects being held. Users can select images from their camera roll or previously uploaded photos. Once animated, the profile picture can be shared to the Feed or displayed on the user’s profile.
Restyle Stories and Memories
The Restyle feature allows users to alter the visual style of images in Facebook Stories and Memories using either preset options or custom text prompts.
After uploading a photo to Stories or selecting a Memory, users can tap Restyle to adjust Styles (e.g., anime, illustrated), Moods (e.g., glowy), Lighting (e.g., ethereal), Colors (e.g., cool, pink), and Backdrops (e.g., beach, cityscape).
Facebook will also recommend Memories suitable for Restyle when sharing to Stories.
Enhanced Text Posts
Facebook is gradually enabling users to add still or animated backdrops to Feed text posts. While composing a post, users can tap the rainbow A icon to select backgrounds such as falling leaves or ocean waves. Additional seasonal backgrounds will be introduced over time to keep posts visually relevant and expressive.
Availability
The new AI-powered features are rolling out gradually. Meta plans to continue adding animation options, seasonal effects, and AI-powered enhancements throughout the year.
