Google Photos gets Veo 3 for Photo-to-Video, Remix, and more creative tools

Google has rolled out its Veo 3 video generation model to Google Photos, upgrading the existing Photo to video feature. This update comes after Google launched Veo 3, its video generation model, and the new Photo-to-Video feature in May 2025.

Create Tab in Google Photos

Google said users can now turn still images into higher-quality short videos using the Create tab, which organizes all AI tools in one place for easy access and use.

Photo to Video

Users can select the Photo to video option to add motion to still images. After choosing a photo, they can pick between two prompts: “Subtle movement” or “I’m feeling lucky,” generating a short, dynamic video from the original image.

Remix

The Remix tool allows photos to be reimagined in different styles, including anime, comic, sketch, or 3D animation.

Collage and Highlight Videos

Collage lets users combine multiple images into a single composition, with options to adjust brightness, apply filters, and edit directly.

Highlight videos automatically create montages from a user’s gallery, using search phrases like “Mom” or “Paris” to guide selections. Users can select from suggested videos or experiment with different search terms for new results.

Cinematic Photos and Animations

Users can generate colorful, moving 3D cinematic visuals in the Create tab, and create GIFs from multiple images with Animations.

Availability

Veo 3 for Photo to video, along with the Remix tool, is now available to U.S. users. Daily generation is restricted for standard Google Photos accounts, with additional access available for Pro and Ultra subscribers.
