Samsung Galaxy S II Shipping Begins in India – NFC Missing?

We told you that Samsung had launched the Samsung Galaxy S II in India and that the phone should be available starting from 9th June and pre-orders began on 26th May. Well now it seems that the pre-orders are already being fulfilled.

This is ahead of schedule and the orders have started from yesterday notably in Delhi. The device comes pre-installed with i9100XWKE8 version firmware while the latest avaialable for update is i9100XWKE7.

Another thing that caught our attention is that the phone does not seem to have NFC functionality as per a test on the ZDevice Test application.

Samsung had promised that India would get the NFC version. While the software could be wrong and the NFC might after all be included, we feel that there is a chance of it being absent as well especially since there’s no mention of it at the back of the box where the highlights of the phone are given.

The package is different from the international version, the Indian package seems to be a lot bigger and the Indian customers also get a leather case with the box.
