Goodix introduces new Bluetooth LE SoC and ToF Solutions

Goodix Technology distributes fingerprint scanners and perhaps even audio solutions to Samsung, Amazon, and Google. At the 2022 Goodix Tech Seminar in Shenzhen, China, the company showed off its wider range of products. To usher in a new era of intelligent connectivity, Goodix is doubling down on investments in fundamental technologies. The launch of the Bluetooth LE SoC and Time of Flight (ToF) solutions were two of the focuses of the presentation.

With the GR5526 series, Goodix showed off a new Bluetooth LE SoC. The company says that the GR5526 series “can be configured as a Broadcaster, an Observer, a Peripheral, or a Central whilst still supporting the use of all of these roles in any combined application.” The SoC works with Bluetooth 5.3 and has a dedicated GPU, which means it can transfer the data to a display. Furthermore, it can handle a resolution of (454 x 454) at 30FPS and consumes 30% less power than its predecessor. As you can see in the infographic above, the SoC can be set up in four different ways, each one with subtly different technical specifications.

Goodix also briefed about its new Time of Flight (ToF) 3D sensing solutions, which combine a ToF image sensor and now a laser driver to measure depth with more accuracy. “Better ambient light suppression, anti-interference, and high dynamic range (HDR)” are some of the benefits of Goodix’s solution. The above technique can be used in a lot of different ways, such as in drones, tools for recognizing faces, and much more.

Commenting on the launch, Sandy Hu, President of Goodix, said,

We have always emphasized the principle of growing together with customers. We have an unwavering focus on our core technologies of sensing, processing, connectivity, and security. And in these fields, we will continue to create powerful collaborations with industrial leaders and ecosystem partners. Our aim is to expand commercial implementations of these innovative technologies and to bring a more intelligent, and connected life for consumers around the world.
