WhatsApp for Android beta brings QR code support

WhatsApp has been constantly adding new features lately and recently, the company added support for QR codes in the latest iOS beta on TestFlight. Following that, now WhatsApp has started rolling out QR code support for Android beta users.

The QR code feature is now available on WhatsApp Beta v2.20.171 and the beta update is now live on the Google Play Store. You can access your WhatsApp QR code from the Profile section in the Settings menu and share the code with your friends who can scan the same to get your number.

Alongside sharing your QR code, you can also scan other’s QR code to add them to your contacts. Lastly, you can choose to keep the existing QR code or reset them as well.

As the feature has made it to the beta version, we can expect it to roll out to stable users soon as well. In case you missed, Instagram also introduced a similar feature called ‘Nametag’ that allowed users to discover others on the platform by scanning the Nametag.
