Google G Suite gets Grammar Suggestions in Google Docs, Smart Reply in Hangouts Chat and more

Gmail Hangouts

Google today announced that it is introducing new grammar suggestions in Google Docs along with a revamped interface for spelling and grammar review. Alongside this, Google is introducing a slew of new features to GSuite including Security center investigation tool, Data regions, Smart Reply in Hangouts Chat, Smart Compose, voice commands in Hangouts Meet hardware.

The new investigation tool in the security center adds integrated remediation to the prevention and detection capabilities of the security center. GSuite admins can identify potentially infected users and remove access to Drive files or delete malicious emails. The Investigation tool is available today as part of ‘Early Adopter Program’ for G Suite Enterprise customers.

Next on the list is the new ‘data regions’ to G Suite. For organizations with data control requirements, G Suite will now let customers choose where to store primary data for select G Suite apps; globally distributed, the U.S. or Europe. Google says that it is also making it easier for you to manage your data regions.

Data regions for G Suite is available to all G Suite Business and Enterprise customers starting today. Following the lines of Smart Reply in Gmail, Google today is bringing the ‘Smart Reply’ to Hangouts Chat to help you respond to messages quicker. Google’s tech recognizes which messages most likely need responses, and proposes three different replies that sound like how you typically respond. The proposed responses are casual enough for a chat and yet appropriate in a workplace. The Smart Reply in Hangouts Chat will be available to G Suite customers in the coming weeks.

Google first introduced the Smart Compose to consumers in May, and now Smart Compose in Gmail will be available for G Suite users in the coming weeks. The new grammar suggestions in Google Docs detects possible grammar corrections and it will underline it in blue to indicate about the grammar error. Right click on it to see suggested corrections.

Google will use Machine learning to help you improve this capability over time to detect trickier grammar issues. Grammar suggestions in Docs are available today as a part of the Early Adopter Program. Finally, it is voice commands for Hangouts Meet hardware, this will make it easier for teams to connect to a video meeting in seconds. Google is said to be planning on roll this out to select Meet hardware customers later this year.
