Samsung Gear S4 with Android Wear, new UX, blood pressure measurement surfaces; could launch as Galaxy Watch

Samsung is prepping to launch a new Galaxy smartwatch; the Gear S4, however, according to the new information revealed by the popular leakster; Ice Universe Samsung could launch it as Galaxy Watch and it might be running on Android Wear ditching the Tizen OS.

In what can be seen as a surprising move, the upcoming Gear smartwatch could be ditching the company’s very own Tizen OS in favor of Android Wear and will also have a brand new UX interaction and blood pressure measurement. The smartwatch is also said to have 470mAh battery, PLP package.

The new UX interaction might replace the original rotating bezel experience debuted with the Gear S2 back in 2016. A report from a while back claimed that Samsung is preferring an application processor built using Panel Level Packaging (PLP) since it will offer a thinner profile and cheaper pricing compared to predecessors. Since the upcoming Gear Watch packs  470mAh battery, it might last longer than S3.

The most anticipated Samsung smartwatch could have e-SIM support to enable LTE connectivity, similar to the Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular model. Though Samsung didn’t say anything about the Gear S4 officially yet, rumors point a launch alongside the Galaxy Note9, so we should know more details as we move forward.
