HTC Exodus native blockchain phone for secure cryptocurrency trading coming soon

HTC has announced that it is planning to launch an Android phone that will come built-in with blockchain technology. The phone is named Exodus and it will feature universal wallet and a built-in secure hardware that support cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications (DApp).

HTC has roped in Phil Chen; the creator of its virtual reality headset Vive, who will now be responsible for all blockchain and cryptocurrency related to HTC’s Exodus. It is also reported that the company is planning on creating anative blockchain network that will use all the Exodus phones as nodes to facilitate cryptocurrency trading among the phone users.

Interestingly, HTC also said to be working on accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment for the phone, however, the price of the phone has not been decided just yet. HTC isn’t the first company to launch the blockchain powered phone, Sirin Labs announced blockchain smartphone last September, it is slated to be released in October this year. It is unclear what HTC’s blockchain powered phone will offer that a regular phone can’t. It is touted to offer better security and user experience by integrating cold wallet storage right into the phone.

On the flip side, these features can also be integrated into any smartphone with the help of software alone. Either way, it is best we save our judgment until we see the phone in real.

Phil Chen creator of its virtual reality headset Vive said:

Through Exodus, we are excited to be supporting underlying protocols such as Bitcoin, Lightning Networks, Ethereum, Dfinity, and more. We would like to support the entire blockchain ecosystem, and in the next few months, we’ll be announcing many more exciting partnerships together.
