It looks like there will be no Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 chipset this year. According to a new report from XDA Developers, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor does not exist and nor will it ever exist.

This comes as a surprise, as we have already seen several reports claiming that the next generation Pixel smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon 836 SoC. The new reports reference “extremely reliable” sources “familiar” with Qualcomm’s plans regarding the Snapdragon 836 chipset. If this report is turns out to be true, the new Pixel smartphones could run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor which is present on flagships like Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy Note 8, OnePlus 5, LG V30 and more. However, the Snapdragon 835 will still be an upgrade for the Pixel line, as the current models both use Snapdragon 821.

Popular tipster Evan Blass has also reiterated on Twitter that he has not heard anything about the Snapdragon 836 thereby corroborating the latest report.
