Google Search to showcase events, results and more for Rio 2016 Olympics

Google is making it easier for you to keep tab on all the action that will take place at the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics.

The new enhanced features will offer automatic updates on top event and medal wins and athlete information. When you search for “Olympics” or a similar query, Google will offer an in-depth search result at the top of the Search page or in your Google app, allowing you get information for a specific country, sport, event, or even by athlete. Search will also offer results and TV schedules in over countries. On the Google App for iOS and Android, users can even register for push alerts when an event has finished, or if a particular athlete has won a medal.

You can explore Rio and venues in Google Maps thanks to Street View and even see highlights on YouTube from official broadcasters in more than 60 countries around the world. Moreover, Google will be showcasing some unique Olympics-based Search Trends and insights with data visualizations. YouTube is sending 15 top creators to the Games, giving users a taste of what it’s like to be in Rio with mobile live streaming.
