Google just announced that it can now offer higher data speeds on the Project Fi network outside the US.

Project Fi is the MVNO operated by Google and exclusive to Nexus devices including the Nexus 5X, 6P and Nexus 6. I personally use the service and I have saved so much time and money while traveling abroad thanks to the seamless and ultra cheap international roaming. Data is charged at $10 per GB both within the US and outside the US.

The only catch till now was that when you use the service outside the US , data speeds were pretty slow and limited to GPRS/EDGE or 2G. But starting today, Google says that it will start offering high speed data even outside the US due to a the addition of Three to the list of operators on board. US cellular , T-Mobile and Sprint are already on board. The data speeds are now 10 to 20 times faster than before.

Google says London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and Montreal are the top 5 cities visited by Project Fi subscribers. Google says you can now use Fi service while you are travelling in more than 135 countries, with the company having just added a dozen new countries.

On this occasion, Google is offering $150 off on the Nexus 6P for the next week when you buy and then activate it on Fi.
