WhatsApp for Android gets support for sharing documents, iPhone app gets media sharing from other apps

WhatsApp Document Attachment

WhatsApp Messenger for Android has finally received option to share documents. This feature is already rolling out for some stable users with version 2.12.453 through Google Play, so it might be a server-side addition. It is also available for WhatsApp for Android beta users.

To share a document, you need to use the attachment option and select ‘Document’ from the list. It shows the documents available in your phone. Currently it supports only PDF. You can choose the document and send it to a person or a group.

WhatsApp for iPhone v2.12.14

Earlier this week, WhatsApp for iPhone got updated to version 2.12.14 that added option to share photos or videos from other apps on the phone, like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive. It also added an improved design for browsing photos and videos, option to add solid colors for your chat background and zoom in on videos while they’re playing.

[Update: WhatsApp has rolled out document sharing feature for the iPhone app as well.]
