Even with the adoption rates of smartphones increasing, there is a huge market for high-end DAPs (Digital Audio Players). It seems that there is a demand for such devices in India as well since the FiiO X7 Android audio player has just been launched at a price of Rs 42,999 which is as much as a high end smartphone.
It offers really good audio quality thanks to the built-in Rockchip RK3188 SoC, ESS ES9018S DAC and OPA1612 buffer that provide upto 384kHz/32bit high quality audio. It also has 1GB of RAM which is good enough for a music player since it doesn’t require much apps or multi-tasking like on a regular smartphone.
The touchscreen is probably the only outdated spec in terms of resolution at least since it packs a 3.97″ 480p display. However, since the focus is on audio, it should be good enough. The device has a premium metal design and houses a 3500 mAH battery that is rated for upto 9 hours of audio playback. Needless to say that it supports lossless audio and a wide range of file formats as well.
The X7 has a custom button mapping feature as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR. While there definitely is a big difference in audio quality especially when coupled with suitable headphones/earphones, it still remains to be seen just how many people adopt this new audio player considering the hefty price tag in India. The audio player is available at a price of Rs 42,999 as a part of an introductory offer after which it will revert to the MRP of Rs 49,999.
