Nest Labs, a Google company introduced Nest Cam, a smart security camera for US$199, which is similar to Dropcam that the company acquired last year. We got to check out the Nest Cam recently, here is the unboxing.

The Nest Cam uses WiFi b/g/n (2GHz and 5GHz) to connect to the cloud and has Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It can connect to iOS or Android device using the new Nest app. It has a 1/3”, 3 megapixel sensor with 8X digital zoom and a 130º wide-angle lens tha offer 1080p HD video streaming at 30 fps.
It has 8 High-power infrared LEDs (850nm) with IR cut filter that lets you see the whole room at night. It also has Microphone and speaker that lets you hear what’s going on and talk back using the Nest app. These is a separate Nest Aware service to backup your videos starting at $100 per year.
