Homelane has just announced a new VR headset that is aimed at enriching the user experience for the home décor market. The headset is called Kaleido and was launched today in Bangalore and we went ‘eyes-on’ with the device to see how they have implemented it.

Homelane is a startup founded in 2014 that is the current online leader in India that provides modular home furnishing solutions. With the newly announced VR headset, Homelane aims to provide an immersive VR experience to their customers by offering real time visuals of kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms etc.

The headset solves the major problem of not being able to know what your home would look like once its furnished. You may not know for sure whether you will hate it or not till you actually see it. But with VR technology, customers will be able to pick the colours, design, sizes etc of their own choice and see the updates in real time in order to know how it will look when it all comes together.

Since the solution is VR based, it allows customers to see the final look in every different angle as if they were experiencing it first hand. It allows customers to see how the finished product will look like without having to spend any money and will make sure they do not have any buyers remorse which can often happen if your aren’t happy with the finished product.

We tried the VR experience ourselves and we were quite pleased with its implementation. It really does help make things much more easier, faster and cost efficient. Homelane also allows you to get the renders as URLs which can then be viewed on any device with a browser and they will also be providing a cardboard VR device for every customer to take home in case they wish to share the VR experience with their friends or family. They can use their phone to simulate the VR experience by placing it in the cardboard VR device.

The Kaleido VR headset will be shown to customers at the Homelane outlets or at the customers home when deciding between the various options. It definitely is interesting to see how Homelane has integrated VR as a solution to their business well and customers are already taking a liking to it. We hope other brands too embrace technology and use it to simplify and make things better as Homelane have done.
