The Asus Zenfone family did a lot of good for Asus last year to make inroads into the Indian mobile market and it was a success globally too. The Zenfone 2 which was announced at CES 2015 earlier this year looks to capitalize on the success of the Zenfone with some improvements and different versions. We got our hands on the ZenFone 2 ZE500CL version, which is the entry level version of the device which has gone on sale in Taiwan and Europe. We are expecting to get our hands on the top of the line ZE551ML version pretty soon too!

The Zenfone 2 ZE500CL has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display with Corning gorilla glass 3 protection, similar to the Zenfone 5. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor. It has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. This runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with Zen UI on top. Here we have a single SIM version of the phone and it has LTE support as well that the Zenfone 5 lacked.
The volume rockers are present on the back and there is a 8-megapixel Asus PixelMaster camera with LED flash and a lot of camera options. The back cover has matte finish, similar to the Zenfone 4. It has a 2500mAh built-in battery, larger than the Zenfone 5’s 2110mAh battery. Asus will launch the Zenfone 2 in India later this month.
