Facebook Messenger for Android updated with better photos and video sharing

Facebook Messenger 5.0 for Android

Facebook updated Messenger app for iOS with some great features earlier this week. Now, the social network is bringing these features to Android. The latest update allows users to share photos, videos and other types of media content faster with others.

Users can now take a photo within the app and send it in one tap, without leaving the conversation. They can also attach and receive videos from their phone’s camera and play them directly in the app. Facebook has also added the ability to download stickers received by users by simply tapping and holding. Moreover, the update adds improved search which lets users search for individuals and group easily.

New features in Facebook Messenger 5.0 for Android

  • More ways to message: Now it’s easier to send photos, voice messages and more
  • Video: Send videos from your gallery and play them right in the app. (Works on Android 4.3 and up. We’ll continue to improve video and bring it to more phones.)
  • Instant photo sharing: Take a photo and send it in just one tap.
  • Stickers shortcuts: When someone sends you a sticker, press and hold down on it to get the pack.
  • Faster search: Just enter the names of people and groups

The update comes after Facebook last week announced that it has finally crossed the one billion mark for monthly active mobile users. Also the social network announced that there are more than 200 million monthly active users of Facebook’s Messenger app.

Facebook Messenger 5.0 can be downloaded from the Google Play Store
