Sony Socialife or Sony’s news app that comes per-loaded on Xperia smartphones, is not exclusive to Xperia smartphones anymore. The Japanese manufacturer has released the app on Google Play for all Android smartphones running on Android 4.1 or later. The app crossed 10 million downloads recently, which now has over 13 million downloads, says the company. Looks like it is still exclusive to Sony Xperia tablets.
It aggregates news, Facebook posts, Tweets and YouTube videos for easy viewing, all at one place. It also offers news from affiliated news partners (250 news organizations) in a range of areas, including general news, entertainment, sports and IT, and you can also add RSS feeds manually. You can also add a widget to the homescreen to gets the news and updates easily.
It also offers official content such as news, photos of players and other information of the FIFA World Cup, for which Sony is an official sponsor. Among the Flipboard, Google Play Newsstand and other news app, this app would other news app, this app would have tough time to attract users.
