BBM coming for Windows Phone and Nokia X platform


BBM made a lot of waves when it became a cross platform messaging service and arrived on iOS and Android smartphones. At that time, the only envious users who couldn’t get their hands on BBM were Windows Phone owners and now, looks like things are changing. BlackBerry Messaging service used to be a very popular service when BlackBerry was a popular smartphone OS and now, with Android and iOS leading the smartphone battle, the messaging apps have gathered in huge numbers.

BBM is still a trusted name and its availability on Windows Phone devices will definitely expand its reach. BlackBerry has confirmed that it is indeed working on a Windows Phone version and the app is expected to hit the market during his summer. In addition to that, BBM have confirmed that BBM will also be available on Nokia’s forked Android platform – Nokia X platform when it launches. During launch of Nokia X series, BBM was one of the featured apps in the App store screenshots during the launch presentation.

At launch, John Sims, President, Global Enterprise Solutions at BlackBerry said “BBM continues to grow in popularity as millions of people use our mobile platform for chatting and connecting with friends or colleagues, and we are very excited that we will soon welcome Windows Phone and Nokia X users to the BBM community. ”

The features that will be making their way to the Windows Phone and Nokia X platform are BBM Chat, Personalization, BBM Groups, BBM Channels, BBM Voice, One Click sharing and new range of emoticons.

The app will be free to download as it is on other platforms.
