11 Digits Phone Numbers to be soon a reality?

With an exponential increase in the Mobile subscribers rate, we might be soon having 11 digits Phone Numbers. Government of India is reportedly now considering to change the numbering scheme from the current 10 digits to 11 digits with an addition of digit “9″ to the numbers in order to accomodate more users.
TRAI, the telecom regulator of India, has recorded an increase of 16.67 million during october 2009 itself taking the total number of subscribers to 488 million subscribers. Hence DoT (Department of Telecommunication) has supposedly issued a note to all the telecom operators to start making necessary arrangements for the migration from Jan 1, 2010.
This might turn out to be a mighty task for all the telecom operators to implement this new numbering scheme, with Mobile Number Portability also coming this Dec 2009 – Jan 2010.
What do you think about this new Government’s proposal to adopt the 11 digit numbering scheme? What else the Government can do to solve this ever increasing mobile subscriber base? Pass on your views below.

why doen not the government mitigate the problem for the next 10 years or so and also let the operators as well as the subscribers be in peace by increasing the number to say 15 digits. It save lots of problems.
I think soon India will be the biggest Telephone & Mobile Market in the World!!
Hello,
Its not a bad idea !! Its a good idea taken by the government. It does not matter a most that there should be 10 digit number or 11 digit number…
Hope will do better.

its ok as long as the current 10 digit mobile number does not changes.
it would be good if the govt.. introduces a single no. from any network for a particular user…reduces problems!!
I think no need of introducing this 11th digit.
If we allot 1 no/person , i dont think above is required.
Now a days people are using 2 to 4 sim ,it is not necessory.
I think the 11th digit is not required. But the preferencial number scheme should be dropped like people wanting a specific number. They should take what they get. Also the first digit should be changeable like now it starts only with 9 or 8. It should also start from 2,3,4,5,6 and 7. This increases the number base.
