Symbian Handset Shipments set to double by 2014 says research firm

According to research firm Juniper Research , Symbian Handset Shipments could double by 2014.The firm sees a mobile phone market being dominated by phones running an open source OSimage

Phones shipped with a Open Source OS will double by 2014. Currently 60% of the smartphone market uses an open source OS. The main contributor to this number is Symbian. Also Google’s Android platform has a promising future. On a side note Apple’s iPhone , Palm’s Pre and RIM’s Blackberry’s all run Proprietary OSes
